On Thursday, the European Union (EU) joined forces with celebrated Bangladeshi hip-hop artist Critical Mahmood to unveil the “I’ve Got the Power” campaign. This initiative celebrates the EU-Bangladesh partnership aimed at building a greener, more sustainable future. It highlights the powerful impact of EU-backed renewable energy projects that are transforming lives and communities across Bangladesh.
At the heart of the campaign is Critical Mahmood’s song, “I’ve Got the Power“, which serves as an uplifting anthem promoting the benefits of clean energy and encouraging people to embrace it. “As an artist, I’m passionate about driving positive change that affects real lives,” Mahmood shared. “Renewable energy is vital to Bangladesh’s future, and I’m honored to contribute my voice to this meaningful collaboration with the EU.”

The campaign is supported by the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, with standout projects like the Bangladesh Renewable Energy Facility. This program aims to install around 750 megawatts of renewable energy capacity, primarily through large-scale solar and wind power projects, complemented by battery storage systems
Michael Miller, EU Ambassador to Bangladesh, emphasized the human focus of the initiative: “The transition to clean energy is ultimately about people—ensuring they have access to reliable electricity and economic opportunities. This campaign invites us to reflect on how we can collectively support a sustainable future for all in Bangladesh.”
The partnership is already making a difference. In Kaliganj, Selim, an e-rickshaw driver, uses electricity to power the lithium battery in his vehicle, allowing him to work efficiently and provide for his family. Meanwhile, aspiring cricketer Nusrat benefits from renewable-powered lighting at her training grounds, helping her practice her skills any time of day. These personal stories showcase how the Global Gateway initiative is directly improving lives and empowering small businesses across the country.
